reason consists of always seeing things as they are

Listen: Open Arms by Mariah Carey (haha)

Oh geez. Slept at 4am last night – trying hard to formulate my questions for my interview with CheeK today, bumming around for inspiration, procrastinating in my writing and lazing on the bed with my eyes wide-open. I am not insomniac. Homework is NOT fun. Although I enjoyed researching about CheeK online – you wouldn’t believe things I’ve found. Haha.

Woke up at 8am this morning. Rushed down to school to borrow a tape recorder. Grabbed my Polaroid just in case Daniel didn’t turn up. Bummed around at HMV (there was a long queue – some Linkin Park party or sumthin). Waited for CheeK at Starbucks Coffee at Paragon. Had a caramel Frappucino (no idea why since I vowed not to drink coffee ever… oh no… it has begun). CheeK was late. Not very late but yeah, late.

You cannot believe this guy – he talks non stop till I ran out of tapes. Time flies when someone talks at the bullet speed and answers all questions at a go. Interesting though. I’m so tired now. Oh yeah, watched ‘Adaptation’ too at Plaza Singapura. Abit lazy to review it here but it’s very original (what do you expect from the makers of ‘Being John Malkovich’?) and sinfully funny. Particularly loved the voice-overs of Charlie Kaufman. It’s like laughing at yourself (we all talk in our heads, no?) and also enjoying every minute of the film poking fun at Hollywood. Brilliant.

I realised I have tons to do but I haven’t started shit. Dang. Back to work. And sleep.

gulf war II has begun. bummer.

Listens: Somewhere Out There from An American Tail OST

The unavoidable war has started. I'm not even sure if I can sleep in peace tonite without thinking of the people over at Iraq are running away from home, taking every piece of food with them and warm clothing... while I'm enjoying my queen-size bed at home and waking up to Feature Writing class tomolo. It's just not right. I pray for them and for their safety. One Iraqi was killed - the breaking news and several wounded. This is only the beginning. I don't wanna imagine the rest. Well, may the world sleep in peace tonite. Good nite.

love shows signs that cannot be mistaken

Listen: I'm Not In Love by Tori Amos

“If we don’t find anything pleasant at least we find something new”– Voltaire
Hah. Suddenly the “goldfish” doesn’t seem pleasant anymore. Or I’m just running away as usual. Just finished watching ‘Tadpole’ which I rented from Video Ezzy this evening. It was shot entirely on a DV cam (which explains the shaky shots) and may look like some cheap production. Besides that, the movie was fantastic. The script was great, I mean realllllyyyyy funny. Aaron Stanford is a gem! No kidding, he’s a natural. This is one of the best films I’ve seen this year. One word: original.

Woke up at 8am to finish PQS Mystery Shopper (and later found out it was due on Friday. Dang.) Oh, today’s the first time I refused to submit my “question” to Ms. Paul during Advertising. My rationale: I told her I completely understood her lecture notes because it was bloody straight forward and I didn’t have anything to ask or clarify with her. But I will pose questions to her during discussion – if I have any. Well, she said OK (even though I could tell she was quite offended) and fired me the 1st question during tutorial. Dammit.

PQS was quite fun today when Mr. Lee started telling his “jokes”.
Why Bush declare war on Saddam Hussien?
Ans: Because his name is B-U-S-H which stands for Beat Up Saddam Hussein
Haha. Good one. Then Persis showed me an SMS her dad sent that says, “CNN live reported that Saddam Hussein just killed his wife because when he lifted up her skirt, he saw BUSH. Haha. This is never-ending eh? Oh, Mr. Lee spoke about the Guerrilla Peacefare 2003. He thought these “guerrillas” are doing a good thing and nothing you can do about the school authorities. Now, countdown to war…

Speaking about the war – I just got an annoying phone call. How can somebody blame me for asking a friend out to town to watch a movie – thinking I’m putting her daughter in danger cuz of her paranoia that some asshole is gonna bomb City Hall because of the looming war? This is probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard! If I were to DIE of some nuclear bomb explosion – so let it be… but HELLO! It didn’t happen – so quit putting stupid ideas into people’s head and do something to stop the war. Dammit!

Bugger off.

sleepy head

Listen: Never Saw Blue Like That by Shawn Colvin

Oh man. I’m so sleepy! Been awake for like how many hours. No sleep is bad bad bad. Just finished watching “Tears of the Sun” starring Bruce Willis (*swoon*) and Monica Belluci. Hmm. I would give it a 3 out of 5. It wasn’t such a GREAT war flick neither was it a BAD one. Ok, I didn’t really fancy the way the movie kicks off. The story line sorta hangs there in the beginning until about an hour – you get a new and clear plot. That’s when everything starts to make sense. Well, the movie is worth sitting through for the amazing nerve-wrecking ending. Geez. I can’t imagine myself being in a war scene. I meant a real war scene with real grenades exploding a metre away from you and seeing your loved ones being shot dead. It’s a nightmare! I was “taking cover” behind my sweater throughout the last “kan cheong” scene. The quote after the movie (which I don’t really remember) had an impact. To think that this is an American film. So, technically Americans are the good guys and rebels are the bad guys. So, Americans are always “helping” others (well, in this movie – it’s for the good) and deemed as “heroes”. Hmm. Is there a message to the people? Oh yeah, no kissing scenes between Bruce and Monica (dang) though but there’s this gory scene where these rebels sliced off this poor woman’s breasts so she’s unable to breast-feed her baby (which was already killed by the rebels). I almost cried. It’s inhuman! Ugh. Ok. Enough about blood and gore and animalism.

School was boring today. Yes. Again. But, had a heart-to-heart talk with Van and I can’t believe I just blurted out one big secret to her. Arrgghh! *slaps own face* Oh well. You better keep your mouth zip, babe! Hehe.

Here’s my 3rd clue is… Love is an illusion. Drowning in confusion. Kill all protrusion. Let’s start a revolution. I’m not making sense here. I’m sleepy. Oh, CheeK called. He left a voice message cuz my phone batt died. Cool – I don’t’ even need to email him to remind him about the interview. Why he said I sent him a set of questions which I didn’t? Weird. Never mind. Good nite.

give peace a chance. say “NO” to war.

Listen: Blue Eyes Blue by Eric Clapton

There will be a WAR. Whether you like it or not.
I was staring at the picture of the Iraqi soldiers on ST front page today. It’s probably the only picture you will see them alive. Next, they will be swimming in their own puddle of blood – it’s only a matter of time. It sickens me to think that millions of lives are in the hands of a grey-haired, childish moron. What is he trying to do? Play God? There isn’t such nonsense as no "proper" resolution but war. Everybody deserves to live. We’re talking about children and people who are afraid to sleep at night – wondering when a nuclear bomb is gonna fall from the sky. Every moment might be their last. But then again, we are talking about a selfish bum here who rules a power state (Americans, next time: vote wisely).

School was boring today. No point talking about Dalet – I still don’t fancy it. The only interesting thing today was seeing these anti-war posters outside the radio labs door. Within an hour or two, everything was tore off without mercy. Doesn’t it reflect the S’pore government’s attitude towards the war? Unmerciful. Oh well, if they didn’t support the US – Singapore will be squashed like a bug. Heh. The short-lived “Guerilla Peacefare 2003” has angered the school authorities. At least some people have a piece of mind and they ARE doing something to stop the war *salute* You guys earned my respect!

I didn’t get OITP. I don’t really care actually. But, it sucks to think that I wasn’t chosen and lost to some people over some positions. Weird. Hmm, maybe I just can’t pay my way to OITP and that fact that I screwed up my interview. Oh dammit. Like Kee would say, “In life, you win some… you lose some”. Hah! I wish. Kee got offered a radio position in Hawaii – woohoo! You go boy! Unfortunately, he was “forced” to give up CTV to join Heatwave for the sake of OITP. Huh? Well, that’s how screwed up the system is – they don’t send you all the way to Hawaii, pay 40% of your expenses so that you could come back to contribute to CTV instead. It just doesn’t work that way. Poor Kee – he just had to make that sucky decision. I wasn’t thrilled that he might drop out from CTV (despite the mean things I always say to him to get him out of CTV) – it just doesn’t seem right for a while. Well, have to rush my Media Mgt assignment. Cheers to another sleepless nite. Bummer.

carrot head

I highlighted my hair. Trimmed it a little. Now I look like some J-Pop wannabe. Yikes. At least it's better than the former. Ignore the header. I didn't colour it red. LOL. More like reddish brownish goldenish. Hmm. Oh well. Blew my week allowance on it! Mum was furious when I told her I cut my hair shorter. She still thinks I look better with long hair. Emphasising the fact that my dad prefers girls with long hair and the fact that I'm broke. Hmm, I just needed a break from staring at the comp. Since I had nuthin better to do - it was an impromptu decision to cut my hair. Nyek nyek. I will pay you back, mother. After selling that hideous bikini (which I've already found a buyer!) and get a part-time job. Still no recommendations?

Watched 'Runaway Bride' just now. It's kinda scary cuz I remembered the script by heart although I've only watched it once! *shivers* Haha, I like this part where Richard Gere said, "Journalism is literature in a hurry" I will never be a journalist. Period.
