WOW. WOW. WOW.
This is probably the BEST “wu xia” film I’ve ever seen! An almost perfect cinematography – every scene seems properly planned for the amazing visual experience. It’s so beautiful that it aches feasting your eyes on the wide screen (Btw, I was sitting on the 4th row with Carol and Keh). Some parts of the movies seem pretty cliché cuz I felt Zhang Yimou kinda overdo the fighting scenes (abit too “Matrix” esp. the rain fight between Nameless and Sky) and the EXACT drumbeats from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon! (Hmm, dejavu?) There was colour-coded concept with RED, BLUE, GREEN and finally WHITE that symbolise each version of the story – the lie, speculation, half-truth and finally the definite truth. (Hmm, this will interest Choy Kok Kee!)

BRAVO to Maggie Cheung’s performance as Flying Snow! Tony Leung was pretty impressive as Broken Sword and Flying Snow’s lover. Really intense chemistry there… Zhang Ziyi – to my disappointment, played Moon which is a pretty small role and she was only dazzling up the screen. I think “Hero” stand a chance in the Oscar race for Best Foreign Film… Best Cinematography… all those techie areas… maybe a nomination for Maggie Cheung? She did made me weep when she screamed devastatingly when Broken Sword died… and later took her own life *sobz* with her sword that also killed Broken Sword *sobz again* Next, White Oleander!

It has been so long since I last watch a movie in the lifestyle library. Van and I watched “Funny Girl” starring Barbra Streisand (when she was young with baby giraffe’s legs) and Omar Shariff while Persis was sleeping one corner (The poor girl was so tired). Okay, at first we thought the first chapter of the DVD was spoilt cuz there was music and no visuals! (After the movie, we realised it was an overture… it was supposed to be like dat larr…) Barbra was really stunning and comical (I didn’t know she had that comedian flair in her!) and I’ve always perceived her as this old, ugly Jewish nose kinda actress. It was amazing to see that she possessed such talents including singing! Overall, it was really funny (gosh, the part where she met Nick Arstein and her head was chanting, “Arstein… Arstein…” and we were imagining ourselves doing the same, “Utt… Utt…” and for Van, it would be “Orlando Bloom… Orlando Bloom…”) and really charming. It was a perfect fairy-tale story until the final 30 mins, which was horrible! We didn’t like the ending cuz Fanny (Barbra) will not end up with Nick Arstein (Omar Shariff – he looks like the typical Clark Gable)… gosh, I hate endings like this. No closure or whatsoever. Depressing lerrr…

Well, there is no perfect love story. “Funny Girl” highlights the cruel reality of marriages. No marriages are perfect; everything always come to an end. I wonder if some people were just being thick skin by forcing themselves to stay in a marriage even though love has long forgotten. Firstly, why do people divorce or break up? Is it because they stop loving each other? Or have they forgotten why they fell in love in the first place? To think about my own marriage (if I will ever marry), it freaks me out. We often pictured our wedding day in our lil’ minds… fantasising the clothes we will wear, flowers we will carry and also where to hold our weddings… but we seldom see if marriage was the only closure to all the love in the world… or whether we do it just to seal a “deal” with our partners so that we won’t be lonely for the rest of our lives? Hmm. Why do we even love exclusively? Why can’t love just be “unconditional” – regardless whether we are attached or not? I don’t know. Maybe I haven’t love enough yet.

Dad just called me to think of a company name for him – he’s setting up a new trading company and he wants to call it, “Wenwen” – aiyoh! I’m gonna design a logo and also conceptualised his company stuff – whoopee! Must think hard. Till another time. Need to start work. Zzzz.

catch some zzzs

Yesterday was a long day. I laid flat on my bed by 9pm. Lost my stamina for 8am-6pm lectures anymore neither do I have the motivation to stay alert. Today, I woke up incredibly early (thanx to my keyboard bashing aunt who is surfing the net at dawn!) and all fresh to start the day.

However, IS 3-D modelling wasn’t the “perfect” module to kick start my day. It reminded me every single bit of Engineer Drawing I took for O-Levels/SPM. Oh yeah, brought back the long lost memories of sitting at the Engineering block with Mr Adnan and each of us occupied these huge “architect” like tables. Hmm. Dejavu. So much for my false perception of “carpentry” module. Ppbbbfftttt… Made me slapping my own face to stay awake. The assignments are MAD! Gosh. Which reminds me why I was in Mass Comm in the first place. Phew!

BLOGGER is pretty screw up, huh? Sometimes, I couldn’t even view my own blog. Weird. Issit just ME or… are the other blogs like dat? Hmm. Just finished Media Management! Hmm, almost I guess. Only 228 words. Dammit.

*dreams* okay, it seemed like the “perfect” topic of the day. And yes, today I saw UTT again! Well, I don’t normally go out “shopping” on a Sunday (Sunday is the day of rest, no?) but haiz, I promised Reena to accompany her shopping at Heeren (thanx to her accompaniment to the audition yesterday).

I reached pretty early and shock at the sight of enthusiastic MTV ticket grabbers. There was this guy (Hey! I saw him last year too. He was the friend of the “coldplay” fan) who was all dressed up in silver hair with aluminium foils crimpled unto each strands of hair and clad in full DYI-aluminium foil outfit AND holding a huge poster, “What are you looking at?” I am amazed at what people do for those “precious” tickets… there’s also this girl (also friends of “aluminium guy” and “coldplay” fan) with a bimbotic pink fluffy feather thingy over her shoulders and hand-made alien springy thing with MTV on it. Wait, there are more! This bunch of face-painted “cat face” people – one with a GOOSE on her head and another with a DINO on the head. There are some dressed as CLOWNS! The cheapest and also “eye-catching” one was this guy with 2003 MAA postcards stuck all over his clothing. This was like some costume party, Mardi Gras or annual gathering of MTV “mad-people” association!

After window-shopping at Annex, we ‘kay-poh’ at the road show and yes, we saw UTT!!! *star-struck* He was wearing the exact same outfit that he wore yesterday (Eww!)… and look devastatingly babelicious. Sigh (“,) There were these bunch of girls who were like shrieking, “UTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!” and asking him to sign everything they had while some local performers (Urban Exchange & Sung Ho) were kicking off the stage. There was this girl (Hmm, she was the “trouble-maker” at last year’s MAA… I remember her) called Rosie who came in a bikini top! *fooh* She couldn’t help flashing at everyone and doing the “Britney”… yup, even I was feasting my eyes on her… *ah-hem* not so BIG ones. It was just hilarious. Well, there as one lucky guy (Eminem “wannabe”) who walked away with a Panasonic CD-player and he looked like he just won an Oscar or sumthin. Big deal. UTT! UTT! UTT!
