Theory of the Lonely Heart
While watching Johnny Bravo the other day, it prompted me to formulate a theory about the nature of humans as social beings (not saying I’m right… it’s just a thought). Johnny was talking or “socializing” with this pebble. It’s funny how as we grew older, we get lonelier. Hmm, maybe we had really lost our honest sense of wonder or became saner. When we were young and innocent, we had our “imaginary” friends, played with Barbie or toy soldiers and stuff toys. We tend to imagine that they were real and as our sole companions – that’s why we tend to get attached to our “prize possessions”. Thinking that no one will understand the bond we had with our so-called “friends” (toys larr).
We are all natural film/theatre directors. We enjoyed directing the so-called stories such as Barbie will fall in love with this BEAR and then the CAT will gets jealous and kill Barbie – well, something like dat. Okay, what’s the connection with our social life? When we were young – we had a BIG imagination. We had “friends” (comprises of Barbie or whatsoever) or “imaginary” ones… we don’t care. As we grew older, we learnt how the society works and what NOT to do when you grow up like talking to your Teddy bear. We lost our childhood friends and tried to make “real friends” – human friends. To think that Johnny Bravo never gets lonely cuz he always has some “imaginary” friend to talk to or he’s just plain idiotic. I have lost part of my crazy childhood imaginations although every time when I suggest some crazy ideas – people exclaimed, “siao” or “try to be serious, can?” Well, occasionally it pisses me off. Now, who’s the one conforming?

post-2003 MTV Asia Awards
Fast Facts
Thoughts of the day: I want Robbie Williams’ bootie!
Curses of the day: Stupid MTV staff bitches
Current Crush: Robbie! Robbie! Robbie!, Avril’s band guys (the one with the black hair) and the “vanishing” Utt
Work: Ad Analysis, Feature Write Profile, PQS Survey
Highlights of MAA: I sat on Avril’s seat beside her CUTE band mates! Blue was sitting in front of us! MTV Vj – KC & Belinda, and all Perfect 10 Djs were sitting behind us! Chester from Linkin Park was a metre away from me (yes, dat Chinese guy also)! Aishawarya (how you spell arr?) Rai was in front of me (gorgeous! gorgeous!)
Lesson Learnt: What “seat fillers” MEAN exactly, and always opt for free standing (despite the long hour queues)
Finally! No glitches. No double takes. No ear-piercing sound system. MAA was a hell of a success last nite! Reena and I were waiting outside the East Entrance of the Singapore Indoor Stadium for about an hour (well, we were NOT super early – it’s just a delay) and equipped with a pink lanyard with our cute Polaroid photos and our names on it (for a moment, a feel so exclusive). I even met this so-called friend of mine queuing in front of us (which was quite ironic, cuz last year – we were at the free standing and this year we are the “seat-fillers”). One thing fun about being part of the “seat-fillers” – you really get to know the other “seat-fillers” and have a blast behind this stupid huge glass windows and screaming, shrieking and cursing behind it.
Well, if you were wondering, “what’s with the glass windows? What the hell are you doing behind them?”… that leads to my EXPLANATION of the meaning of being a “seat-filler”. A “seat-filler” don’t freaking fill the empty seats (cuz there aren’t ANY!) and OUR job was to fill the seats when the artists left to perform or toilet or accept an award or got kidnapped by aliens. So we fill their seats “temporarily”… and then walked back to that stupid glass window rooms and bitch bitch bitch about those MTV staff bitches that wouldn’t stop screaming at us. Bitches. I totally felt like a reject and gosh, waste my time for dolling up! Humph! And my initial reaction was, “Fark! I got TRICKED!” and yeah… BUT, there is also the positive side to this.
Although we hardly catch the entire show (go home and watch repeats larr), my first time “filling” the seats was when Avril went to performed and Reena and I had the privilege of warming our butts on Avril’s seat! Blue was sitting in front of us – I spotted Simon with his Afro hair and he waved at Reena who waved at him (actually, we as “seat-fillers” are not suppose to do that or even ask for autographs – ugh)… and there were these cute blondies/brownies guys sitting beside me. I was racking my brain thinking, “Which boy band?” and they turned out to be Avril’s band mates! *swoon* Darn cuteeee! And Aishawarya Rai, former Miss India/Miss World was sitting in front of us. WHEE! She is such a babe and gosh, I was dying to be her when she presented the award for Best International Male to ROBBIE WILLIAMS!!! Oh MY GAWD… it’s as though my childhood dream has finally come true! My first meeting (well, not really… but he was THERE) with the only surviving Take That member! (Yes, Carol will share my star-struckness –we are the ultimate Take That fans!) Ohhh…. His performance of “Feel” –arrgghhh, I wish I were in the mosh pit! Or even free-standing… I got so blardee excited… I climbed (gosh, I didn’t know how I got there) on top of this wall thingy… and everyone was staring at me and asking, “how the hell did you get up there?” – hmm, the massive training from High Jump really helps, eh? Until the MTV (bitchy ones) staff had to get me down (Dang. I had a perfect view from up there)… dang dang dang. ROOOBBBBIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Well, Avril was great – she really got the crowd going… I was really excited of Matchbox Twenty’s performance of “Disease”… nice! I dunno about the Jay Chou’s oriental kungfu fighting thingy… I dun understand a thing he was rapping about. Hahaha. However, I felt that the production this year was very impressive compared to last year’s flop. Even Coco Lee and Shaggy made a really good pair of host (compared –again! To Ronan Keating and Mandy Moore last year)… however, it’s also nice to see pure Asian blood to host the awards. I honestly think MTV should consider both host to be Asians and not import any international artist to host – I mean, c’mon! we can speak good English, no? Unfortunately, I didn’t see Suede or Brett Anderson around. Haiz. Yes, I was behind the glass windows. Finally, Reena and I got permanent seats (behind us were the MTV Vjs, Belinda and KC and Perfect 10 Djs, Glenn Ong, Rod Montiero, Carrie Chong and Jamie Yeo) and enjoyed till the end of the awards. *sings ‘One Love’*
Honestly, I enjoyed last year’s award show better than this year’s (Not because of the “seat-fillers”) cuz I preferred the dynamics of free-standing. We really enjoyed the show last year despite the 8-hrs long queue. Hmm, I heard those mosh pit people didn’t get to eat or drink since 11am and they were dancing and dancing the entire day. No wonder they were dead tired when the show kicks off. They even had a shift or rotation for those mosh pitters! Poor guys. So, “seat-fillers” wasn’t all that bad – you dun need to queue long and get to sit with the stars! Hahaha. This is getting draggy and long. I remembered being so hungry and Reena and I went to NYDC at Suntec for a lovely pizza! YUM! You can only get the BEST pizzas in NYDC! MAA is over, till next year…

Okay. I am pen-less. I can’t write notes. Or even write my diary. Even forgotten to shop for a pen at West Mall just now cuz I took a direct bus home. Haiz. Never mind. Shall buy one before Medresh tomolo morning. Another “crazy” but not-so-harrowing day, thanks to 3-D Modelling (Who the hell in the right mind would be an engineer?!? Oops.) Luckily, I guess most of us got the “hang” of it and it wasn’t as bad as last week. We learnt to make holes on our “models”… wow (I’m being sarcastic here). Advertising was err… like normal. PQS – gosh, we have to draw line graph?!? We escape maths, science and yes, GRAPHS by joining Mass Comm and here we are… connecting the dots. Dejavu. Ugh. Then, we waited for 2 ½ hours for Mr. Bangras. This is the first time in this semester, I stayed in school till… so late. Well, it wasn’t that bad till the sun goes down. But, still… never mind. I really have nuthin else to blog today. So, cheers.

Current Crush: babelicious UTT!
Read: Virginia Woolf’s The Years
Days to MAA: 4
I’m trying to internalise the entire “Funny Girl” soundtrack. Haha, only four days to MAA! Whooppee! And guess whom I saw on MTV Most Wanted? My darling UTT… *swoon* Ahhh… tempted to send dozens of emails/snail mails/orchids/whatsoever to the show BUT, that’s pretty lame rite? Never mind.
Today was a short day in school. Good. I was tempted to watch “White Oleander” (even though Van said it was really slow and the book was betta – bum) but there was the 4:50pm show (That time was 3:00pm). Hmm, ended up buying loadsa staples at Popular (should stop stealing from the FMS office), fluorescent markers and file. My day is abit boring, isn’t it? Oh well. Radio was err… okay larr. We did this interview thingy and was to play a role of a tattoo artist from M’sia. Haha.
It’s the Golden Globes today and I’ve forgotten! Dammit. I even went to school so freaking early (DOH) to photocopy 50 copies of the Toblerone survey. “The Hours” and “Chicago” are the BIG winners of the day! Whoopppeee! The ever-beautiful Nicole Kidman won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a drama (2nd consecutive year!). Hurrah! (And check out her HUGE earrings! Woah) Renee Zellweger also won! Yeah! Alrite, must look out for those two movies then. Finally MJ came online. Hah! So long since I last chatted with him and now he has to hand in his assignment. Hmm, which reminds me – I haven’t typed finish my finalised Radio Script for Persis! Yikes.

Books read so far: The Hours, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
Days to MAA: 5
*shivers* it’s been raining non stop since morning, it could have been the perfect day to stay home – sleeping. However, I had my AdCamp meeting at 11am, Starbuck Coffee at Liat Towers and I only woke up at 10am! Yikes! I was not the only group member caught in the cruel rain… Kee Soon was completely drenched! Most of us were late anyway. Stupid rain. Sunday is the day of rest… I wish I didn’t have to go out at all. Sigh.
SALES! SALES! Everywhere! It may be the rainy season, but also the shopping season *smiles* Topshop was having this massive sale; even ZARA’s jeans are at $29! (Too bad they dun have my size anymore) *shrugs* I was shopping or rather just window-shopping alone around Orchard today. It’s been awhile since I last spend so much time with myself. I even missed the bus when I was so caught up with the final pages of “The Hours” – a Pulitzer winning novel by Micheal Cunningham and also a major motion picture starring Nicole Kidman as Virginia Woolf (Hmm, the prosthetic nose really made her unrecognisable!). Amazing story about 3 women’s lives (separated by chapters) in a span of a day – revealing the secrets of their sexuality, suicidal thoughts, death, what separates men from women and etc. Looking forward to the movie, though.
Playing “Funny Girl” soundtrack now *sings “I’d Rather Be Blue Over You”* NICE!
